So maybe you're wondering why your stylist has a cancellation policy in place? The biggest reasons are to protect our stylists, our guests and our business. As licensed professionals who have dedicated thousands of hours and dollars into our education, skill and craft, we also only get paid when our guests show up. Imagine going into work for the day to find out that you won't be paid for the first half of the day, but you still have to stay until your next guest comes in 2 hours. Honestly, it stinks and it's even worse when you have guests waiting to get on your schedule.
Our Policy Protects Our Stylists
Did you know that in our industry, most Stylists earn their income by commission? This means they do not make a salary, they do not get paid hourly. They earn their living by taking care of the guests in their chair. If a guest doesn’t show up for their appointment or cancels with little notice, this doesn’t leave an opportunity for the Stylist to book another appointment.
Our Policy Protects Our Guests
Did you know that at Eclectic Hair Studio, we have at any given moment, three to ten guests waiting on a cancellation list for appointments? Also, we are booked as an entire team a few weeks out, especially nights and weekends (typically 5+ weeks). We continue to hire, train and grow because of this demand! So given this demand, we have to enforce our policy to protect those who are eagerly waiting an appointments.
We ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice in the event of a cancellation. With our booking system, you are sent a confirmation text and email 48-72 hours before your appointment, where you can simply cancel through those messages. You are also able to log in to your online account 24/7 where you can do the same. You are also sent an appointment reminder 24 hours before your appointment.
Incase you missed them, here is a link to our policies.
Grace and Expectations
We are human and understand that accidents happen, people get sick and emergencies occur. We will do our best to accommodate these rare occasions with grace. We do keep record of these events to prevent the abuse of these policies. We understand that these policies may come across as harsh and our goal is to be preventative in order to protect and accommodate our team and guests.
Thank you so much for understanding why these policies exist.
This week I want to touch on a subject that I've been asked about three times in the past week... thinning hair! TEA TREE SCALP CARE FAQ
Q: What does “85% reported increased volume and strength” mean? Thinning hair is fine, fragile and more susceptible to break and fall. The Tea Tree Scalp Care regimen helps strengthen hair and add volume which results in thicker-looking hair.
Q: If someone is using Rogaine® or Minoxidil, can they use the Tea Tree Scalp Care system? They can use the shampoo and conditioner, but we would not recommend the tonic unless recommended by their doctor.
Q: Do all of the products contain Regeniplex® at the same level? All Tea Tree Scalp Care products feature the exclusive Regeniplex® blend at different levels. Each formulation and Regeniplex® blend is specifically calibrated to provide maximum benefits by: * Stimulating the scalp (Anti-Thinning Shampoo) * Strengthening the hair (Anti-Thinning Conditioner) * Regenerating with Anti-Thinning Tonic, which contains the highest concentration of Regeniplex® blend
Q: If I only shampoo 1-2x a week can I still use the system and will I get the same results? Can you alternate other shampoos and conditioners with the tonic? The best performance is to use the system on a daily basis. The most important step is to use the Anti-Thinning Tonic twice a day for best possible performance. You can alternate shampoo and conditioner as needed or recommended by stylists however, maintaining the twice daily use of the tonic will provide the best results. It is best to use the entire system to get the maximum results.
Q: The tonic sprayer keeps clogging— how do I fix that? SHAKE WELL! Remove, rinse with warm water.
Q: What if I don’t use the tonic twice a day? Guests will not experience the maximum benefits. Results will vary on each individual, but we encourage twice daily use to maximize performance and best results.
Q: Will my hair feel oily if I don’t wash it but apply the tonic twice daily? Not if the product is applied as recommended AT THE SCALP.
Q: Can you use Scalp Care if you’ve had hair transplants? Yes, however guests should confer with their doctor or specialist.
Q: If you stop using the system, will it reverse? It will vary depending on the causes and the severity of hair fall. Stylists can make the best recommendation for their guests during consultation.
Q: How long does it take to see results? It is recommended to use the daily regimen for at least 2 weeks to start seeing noticeable results. Best results have been shown at 4 weeks, and dramatic improvements have been experienced after 8 weeks through intense clinical testing.
Q: Are there any nuts in these products? No.
Q: Are these products gluten-free? The shampoo and conditioner do not contain wheat (so therefore gluten-free), however the tonic does.
Q: Is the system safe for color-treated hair? Yes, the entire system is color-safe.

Trust me, I totally get it. Going to a new hairstylist can be terrifying. What if they don't get what I'm trying to say? Can my hair even look like this picture? What do you mean I can't be this blonde? We've all been through the emotions of seeing a new stylist, the excitement when they absolutely nail it and the let down when you didn't get what you wanted. While not every look is achievable in one session, I want to share some tips so that you and your stylist are on the same page before they even touch your hair.
First and foremost, look for a stylist who specializes in whatever service you are looking for. Check out their work on social media, and don't be afraid to read their reviews. That's what's great about the internet, you have access to hundreds of stylists in your area that you can research before ever even requesting an appointment.
The next best part about the internet: photos! Yes! We want you to bring in photos. I love when a client shows me their entire pinterest board of hair inspiration. For me, that's better than one single photo. I can get a feel for the type of hair they like by seeing multiple photos of things they simply like. What's also great, pictures of hair you DON'T like. Yes! If you hate that bold money piece that's super trendy right now, I want to know that.
With pictures also comes Filters, FaceTune and the game of Instagram perfection. Trust your stylist when they tell you what is or isn't achievable. Almost every picture you see on IG has some type of filter over it. We all do it! Some people filter for the perfect hair tone, some people like the way their skin looks smoother, some want a consistent feed... whatever the reason, know that that icy white hair isn't going to stay that perfect without a lot of upkeep.
One of my favorite questions to ask during a consultation is do you want to be seen as a brunette or a blonde? That's a really important factor when coloring hair. Dimension is key in almost every hair color, but what do you want the world to see you as can determine a lot about your color placement.
Another huge factor is the look of your color. Do you want natural or bold highlights? How often are you willing to come in for upkeep? How much time and money are you willing to invest in your look? These are all important factors during your consultation. My goal for all guests isn't just to love their hair when they leave, but for weeks to come.
Above all, make sure you and your stylist are a good fit. If you feel you aren't on the same page, don't be afraid to say something before they get started. Your stylist should want you to fall in love with your hair, so make sure that is their top priority and they provide it in an environment where you can relax and enjoy yourself.

If you're anything like me, you're constantly looking for ways to smooth down those frizzy hairs year-round. Summer hits... it multiplies by 10. The absolute worst: rain. What you probably don't know about me, is that my hair is naturally curly. Not super tight curly, but way more than just wavy. The key to keep my hair looking silky year round is simple... a keratin treatment!
A keratin smoothing treatment is a hair smoothing treatment that temporarily coats the outer layer of the hair to smooth the hair, remove frizz, enhance shine and decrease blow-dry and styling time. You've probably heard of a Brazilian Blowouts. A Brazilian Blowout is actually a brand of keratin treatment (just like we use Paul Mitchell). We choose to use a brand that we feel is a bit safer than most out on the market. It is free of all types of aldehydes, so it will not burn your throat or eyes during the process. What's amazing about this brand, is that it doesn't actually remove the curl from your hair, but just the frizz. Don't let that fool you though, if you're looking to straighten your hair daily, this will DEFINITELY make your hair so much easier to blowdry and straighten. We love that it still leaves the option for our curl-friends to still rock them if they wish.
Incase you're wondering how much can change in just 2-3 hours, take a look at this keratin transformation.
You couldn't even see the dimension in her color before this treatment. Needless to say, these treatments are life-changing for those with frizzy hair. Our clients who have received this service are 100% hooked, and typically get the keratin treatment 2-4x per year.

Does your hair only grow to a certain length or it's constantly breaking off?
I hear you. I am you.
But I do have a few things I do to my hair to keep it in the most healthy state I can. First and foremost, product and tools are going to be some of your biggest influences. If you want to know what I use and recommend, check out this blog post.
One of the biggest reasons your hair breaks is because of lightening (that's the polite word that us professionals use for bleach) and heat damage. Trusting your hairdresser and the limits they put on how light you can go each visit is extremely important. Even with all of the professional product, color and tools, hair is fragile and can still break. So, what else can we do about it?
Yes, they're worth it and do actually make a difference. There are some that are "feel good" treatments that will make your hair feel great, but it's really important to use ones that actually repair your hair. I want to share a few of my favorite treatments (both in-salon and at home) that make all the difference.
Now, it totally depends on what's going on with your hair what treatment is right for you. Here are my absolute favorites!
My overall favorite is Paul Mitchell's Keratriplex Treatment. This isn't a keratin treatment, but it does have keratin proteins in it that help repair the hair from the inside out. It is a great treatment for breakage, it adds shine and helps with the longevity of your haircolor. It lasts about six weeks, so it's a great add-on at every appointment.
I actually recommend two different treatments for frizz, but they do two completely different things. The one that is actually a conditioning treatment is called HydraTriplex. It leaves your hair 82% softer and more manageable. This treatment also lasts about six weeks.
Breakage and Frizz.
Hair a hot mess? You need protein and moisture. I recommend doing a dual treatment of KeraTriplex and HydraTriplex. Get the best of both worlds!
Ok, so that other treatment I was talking about is a keratin treatment (you may have heard them referred to as brazilian blowouts before). The keratin treatment we offer will significantly reduce the frizz in your hair for a minimum of three months (most people get the service 2-3x per year). The best part is, this treatment does not remove your curl. So you can still wear it curly if you want, but straightening it is about 1000x easier. Mid-spring is the perfect time of year for this treatment as we get ready to head into those warm, humid months.
We have a treatment that is custom-colored just for your hair. Color Craft is a unique treatment because not only will it condition and soften your hair, you can also add temporary color with this conditioning treatment. So whether you’re looking to freshen up your color or add a tint of something fun, Color Craft can be used on anyone.
Another favorite is Olaplex. Olaplex is a little bit different, as it is a bond multiplier and you actually mix it into your color or lightener to help rebuild bonds while the color is processing. This is a two-step process so number one goes into the color and number two goes on after rinsing the hair. There’s also a number three that you can take home to keep your hair healthy between appointments. I highly suggest this one if you're looking to go blonder or already rocking the balayage look.
Marula Oil Intensive Masque will totally help.

Marula Oil Treatment is an oil that can be used as a treatment. Saturate your ends with a few full droppers to dry hair, let sit for 10-20 minutes and then shampoo and condition as normal. Style as desired.
Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Intensive Treatment is your answer.
Shampoo with Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shampoo, rinse, apply treatment, let sit for 10-20 minutes, rinse and style as desired.
Lavender Mint Mineral Mask's got you!

Color Craft to the rescue.

Don't worry, we'll add just the right amount of pigment to your jar to match your exact hair color!
Hope all of these tips help get your hair looking the best it can. Don't hesitate to ask about a treatment at your next appointment!
I've been doing hair for over 10 years now, and I've always had a passion for long hair. I've never worn my hair above my collar bone, and honestly, short hair (cutting and styling) really intimidates me... I think mostly because I've never had any personal experience with it. I had extensions put in while I was still in cosmetology school. I absolutely loved them, but...
I was allergic to the glue used to attach them to my own hair. The entire back of my head was of hives, but I refused to take them out because I loved the length. They only lasted about two or three weeks, because I struggled to keep them looking natural. They were single strands, so I always had to brush them so they didn't look like spaghetti strings. I ended up removing them and all that long hair went straight to the trash.
A year or so into my career, I learned about individual beaded extensions. I loved the idea of no glue, so I dove right in. I ended up finding a company based out of Ohio, and I was so excited to get started and support something locally. I had my first guest, they looked stunning, anddddd they all came out within 24 hours. So, I called the company, and I was applying them wrong, so she came back in and we put them back in. They made it about 48 hours and same thing. I paid the owner of the company to come teach me how to do it (he actually reinstalled her hair) and the same. damn. thing. I was so frustrated.
A few years later, I found tape-in extensions. I could install them in under an hour, and they looked great. While I'm not a hater of other extension methods, I was SO bummed when my guest came in for her first move up. Taking them out, cleansing them and applying them in the exact same place they were before took FOR. EV. ER. Honestly, like 3-4 hours with an assistant. They were tacky AND you can't pull your hair up with them without seeing the extensions. Another disappointment.
I found Halo Couture Extensions at a hair show one year, and honestly, I love them. It's a long weft of hair that sits under the top layer of your hair. They look great, but they do come in and out every day. So it's a GREAT temporary method, but still isn't the same as always having your hair in.
Fast forward to Summer 2017. I was at a business retreat in San Fransisco, and a dear friend kept talking about these extensions. I started following NBR on social media, and finally committed to their training about 6 months later. I am SO freaking glad I did. Not only have the extensions transformed my business, they've also helped me with my own self confidence.
I've now invested thousands of dollars and countless hours into training and specializing in this method of hair extensions. It's quick, there's no glue or tape and the results are STUNNING. I cannot believe how much different my life looks nearly a year after I started my journey with Natural Beaded Rows Extensions, but I am SO thankful that this opportunity came into my life. It has reignited that passion for hair again, and I am in love with giving people the hair (and confidence) that they've always dreamed of.
If you're interested in experiencing Natural Beaded Rows for yourself, click this link to learn more and apply to sit in my chair!
Natural Beaded Rows Hand Tied Extensions are an investment, and there's no point in investing in yourself if you aren't going to take care of your hair with great product. Many over-the-counter products have plastic fillers, old product or are watered down and will completely wreck not only your natural hair, but also your extension hair. And while we can treat that hair, sometimes once the damage is done, there's no turning back. So this week, I want to share with you everything you need to take care of your extensions.
Before I started doing hair, I never believed that there was a difference between professional and over-the-counter products. In high school, I started using Herbal Essence on my hair (because it smelled amazing) and at my next haircut, my dad called me out (yes, my dad still cuts my hair). I told him he was crazy and that I've been using the same shampoo and conditioner he gave me. He knew I was lying. I totally had no idea how he could tell until I started doing hair. I've had to cut people's hair because of the damage from cheap hairsprays (they're loaded with alcohol). It's actually really sad when it happens. I've also seen store-bought shampoo take wax off of Walmart floors. I've personally experienced extreme dandruff with cheap dry shampoos (sometimes you're desperate when your flight is cancelled and your stuck out of town overnight. Do yourself a favor, and throw it all in the trash.
Let me start by saying that I'm not someone who loves the feeling of product. I NEVER use a hairspray (ew) and while I have hundreds of products on my shelves, I only use a select few. I've got my routine pretty much perfected, and I hope this helps you in your journey with extensions.
Shampoo, Conditioners and Masks
First and foremost, you need an AMAZING shampoo and conditioner. My absolute favorites are MarulaOil Shampoo and MarulaOil Conditioner. I have never stuck with a shampoo and conditioner so long (going on 5 years now). They leave your hair hydrated and smooth, but don't weigh it down. I always make sure that I rinse my conditioner out really well, and I've never had an issue with it feeling heavy or like it's still in my hair. When I switched to this shampoo/conditioner combo, it was the first time I was able to stretch out washing my hair every 2-3 days (pre-extensions... now I wash my hair every 5-7 days). Since I go so long between washes now, I do wash my hair twice just to get that extra few layers of Dry Shampoo out. I swear by this line, and it's what 90% of my clientele uses. I also like to add in the mask once a month to help keep my split ends away. I use it in place of my conditioner, and let it soak in for about 10-15 minutes before rinsing out.
Products to use when your hair's wet
My two must-have wet-styling products are MarulaOil Serum and Neuro Prime. I used Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum for 10+ years, but ended up making the switch over to the Marula Serum about a year ago. It helps with frizz and fly-aways, but I don't feel like I have any product in my hair. About two months ago, I started adding in a heat thermal protectant (I use one when it's wet and one when it's dry). EVERY time I lighten my hair, I end up with mass breakage about a month later, so I know it's thermal damage. So far, I haven't noticed any breakage, and I couldn't be more thrilled. I use one pump of the serum and one pump of the prime, mix them together and apply mid-strand through my ends. I'm only using one pump of each every 5-7 days, so the product lasts FOREVER. Totally worth the money. The other product that I use when my hair is wet (not every single time) is a leave in conditioner. If my hair is feeling a little dry or tangly, I'll spray a little leave in conditioner as soon as I get out of the shower and it will help with everything. Some days, I just don't feel like I need the extra condition. The one time I ALWAYS use this product, is anytime I am going swimming (ocean or pool). I spray this in my dry hair, and it acts as a barrier to help prevent the water from absorbing into my hair and drying it out.
The must have - oil!
If you have extensions, you know that an oil is a must to keep them hydrated. Your extensions don't get the natural oils that your own hair gets, and my go-to is, of course, MarulaOil. This is the ONLY oil I recommend on your extensions (it won't discolor your hair). This oil is highly concentrated, so a little goes a LONG way. This oil is dispensed with a dropper, so I recommend 2-4 drops (yes, drops, not droppers) of oil when your ends start feeling a little dried out. I like to use a full dropper on my ends about 15-20 minutes before I wash my hair to give them an extra dose of hydration. The oil is water-soluble, so it won't build up on your hair like other oils.
Heat Thermal Protectant
Once my hair is dry, I separate it into two sections (bottom row and down then top row and up). I give a light mist of a heat thermal protectant - Neuro Protect - over that bottom section and start styling. Two things - one, don't over spray the product until it's wet... totally defeat the purpose and it will cause more damage. And two, don't try to spray with every curl, you'll forget. Just give that entire bottom section a mist at once and the same with the top. I use this every time I style or touch- up my hair. If you're using a really light spray of it, it will not weigh your hair down. PS. Make sure your hair is 110% dry before putting any heat to it.
Hair Sprays and adding Volume
Like I said earlier, I'm not huge into putting hairspray on my hair, but my two favorites for clients are the Extra Body Finishing Spray (medium-firm hold) and MarulaOil Perfecting Spray (light hold...great for frizz and flyaways). I LOVE a good texture spray... they're somewhat newly popular, but they add volume and texture, but not the hardness or stiffness of hairspray. My absolutely favorite texture spray is Invisiblewear Undone Texture Spray. Another favorite to add volume is the Invisiblewear Pump Me Up. It's a little bottle of a light-mist powder that gives a lot of fluff without the weigh down. Another client favorite is the Neon Sugar Tease. It will give you great hold like a hairspray, but it combs out 10x easier than a hairspray.
Dry Shampoo and Conditioner
My two saving grace products are Neon Dry Shampoo and Dry Conditioner. These are the BEST I have ever used. They smell AMAZING and work GREAT. I'm a brunette, and I love that they don't make my hair white or powdery. Also, if you're using dry shampoo to absorb the oil at your scalp, you need something to add a little love to your ends. Try this combo. I promise you won't regret it. Pro tip - apply your dry shampoo before bed to start absorbing oil while you sleep. Totes worth it! Also, when you apply your dry shampoo, spray enough at your roots so that you barely start to see it, then let it sit for a few minutes. After that, rub it in almost like you're shampooing your scalp. Letting it sit gives it a bit of time to absorb all the extra oil.
The other must-haves for extensions
A good quality brush is essential for your extensions. I love the Paul Mitchell Paddle Brush. I LOVE that it has a cushion, so it will collapse if there is too much hair or tangles (remember to brush from the ends to the scalp) but I still feel like I can actually get the brush through my hair. I'm not a huge fan of the silk cap (I find that my hair ends up harder to style when I wake up), but I find a silk pillowcase necessary. Cotton will absorb the natural oils from your hair and also cause friction when you sleep. I got my silk pillowcase from amazon. My absolute favorite hairties, Goomees, are available at the salon. They don't leave that gross crease in your hair and they last forever (as long as you don't lose them or someone doesn't steal them).
Trust me, I get it... that's a lot! But also, these are high quality products that are SO worth the investment. These products are very concentrated, so you will find yourself using way less and the products lasting way longer than your old shit. Protect your investment and use great products... it's worth it and so are you!
On this blog post, I want to share with you my experience wearing extensions in the ocean and/or pool. But first, what the heck is Tortuga?! It's a 3-day music festival on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This is my second year attending, and I had a blast. I got to see Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Maren Morris, Kenny Chesney, FloRida, Dustin Lynch and many more. I headed to Florida a day early to enjoy some time on the beach. And yes, I got in the ocean with my NBR!
First things first - never ever get sunscreen on your extensions - It will turn them a weird peachy color (which is actually pretty) but also DOES NOT come out. I did not turn my extensions peach, but just giving a friendly warning since we're talking about the sun and water. Chlorine and salt water can be drying to your hair extensions, so if you plan on getting in the water, a leave in conditioner will be your best friend. Spray a little on your midshaft and ends - and this will help prevent some of the water from absorbing into your hair (it acts as a barrier and conditions your hair). I wear 22" extensions, so my hair can get tangled pretty easy if I'm swimming for an extended period of time, so I prefer to put mine in two quick braids if I'm going under. I'll leave my hair down if I'm just letting the ends get wet - no issues at all. When I get back to the room, I brush it all out and then wash my hair like normal (it actually felt really soft) and that was it.
As far as styling my hair for the three days of the show - SUPER easy. On day one, I wore it all down with my favorite style right now - a mix of waves and curls. On day two, I pulled it half up and re-curled the two pieces of my own hair around my face and added a cute scarf and that was it. On day three, I started with it half up but it was hot, so huge bun for the win. I had my extensions out for nearly three weeks, and I forgot how much less time and effort I put into my hair with extensions. Yes, it takes me an extra 20-30 minutes when I wash it, but I'm only doing that once (maybe twice) per week. I'm saving SO much time every morning because the extensions hold curl/wave so well and I just need a few quick touch ups each day. I only spend about 5 minutes on my hair each day that isn't wash day.
If you're heading to the beach this year, YES! you can totally keep your NBR in for your trip. 2-3 minutes of prepping the hair will save you any hassles, and you can still keep your beautiful long locks in with your bikini. Happy warm weather, y'all!
JPMS National Educator.
It's a question I get asked ALL the time. "How do you do it all?" Secrets out... I don't even get close to being done what I wish I could every week, but I've learned a lot of tips and trips along the way that have helped me maximize my time. Hopefully these will help you organize your busy life a bit.
Before we get started - I'm a recovering work-a-holic. No, seriously. I used to brag about how busy I was. And it's incredibly hard to let go of when you love what you do, but being so busy that you don't have time to take care of your mind and body isn't something to be proud of. I'm here to tell you... it's okay if not every single hour of the day isn't "productive." Your mind and body need time to recover every day, so take time to yourself each and every day. You're worth it!
Ok, so first and foremost, you definitely need a schedule, every week, with designated times you're going to get specific shit done. The biggest game changer for me was waking up earlier... I know, crazy! But honestly, that's when I get the bulk of what I do behind the scenes done. I started waking up between 4:30 and 5:00 am (or earlier) instead of 7am, and it's amazing what that 8-10+ hours working ON your business(es) will do for your life. This is also the perfect time to get in a quick workout, some meditation and something healthy into your body. If you're looking for a guide to setting up your morning routine, check out this book: The Miracle Morning. This is how I started developing a morning routine that worked for me. Shifting a lot of work to the morning has allowed me to enjoy my weekends and not feel as guilty when I make time for whatever I want to do.
OK! Confession: I'm ADDICTED to planners. Like seriously, obsessed (I'm a nerd who wants all the school supplies with me 24/7). I have to physically write everything down and the planner I go back to every year is the Freedom Mastery Planner (check and make sure it's the current year). I also really liked the Corie Clark Purposeful Planner, but it's a little too bulky for everything else I need to carry in my bookbag, but it's definitely an amazing planner. It was great for a personal planner, but didn't work out as well for my business planner, and I don't want them separate. Side note, I HATE that there isn't a full page for Saturday and Sunday - they're condensed into one page, and I no likey.
*Pro tip: One of the things that I use my planner for is writing down everything that I accomplished in the time slots instead of it just being a schedule. It's a friendly reminder that from 10-12 I worked on my social media and from 2-3 I wrote out thank you cards, etc. It reminds me every week of how many things I actually got accomplished instead of focusing on what wasn't crossed out. Try it out and let me know what you think!
I also use a Digital Calendar, so I always know where I have to be. I use Fantastical 2 (yes, I paid for it... desktop and iPhone versions), but I love them both. I have everything color coded and keep a lot of details in the notes (bill due date reminders, flight deets, class deets, if I paid a deposit on that appt, location of events like showers and weddings - where they are registered, etc). It's what keeps me where I need to be and helps remind me of upcoming events if I need to buy a gift, etc. Every Sunday, I sit down and look at my calendar for the week, fill it all into my planner and then plan my week and what I'm going to get done in my office hours times. Yes, it takes a second to write down, but it helps me keep prepared for each week and lets me focus on the most important tasks at hand. Do whatever is your top priority each week first, and worry about the small shit last.
Another HUGE key in what keeps me going is what I eat every day. As much as I LOVE to eat (pizza, bread, pasta...carbs!), I definitely know how food impacts the way I feel, so I've had to train my brain to eat to fuel myself. The best advice I can give you: MEAL PREP. Not only will this save you time, it will also keep a majority of your meals healthier AND save you some money. So, once you get your schedule done for the week, know what days are your long days, your late days, the days you aren't going to be home at all, etc. Build your menu around that. I plan to cook a full meal 3-4 nights a week. That leaves enough for leftovers, eating out or heating up something quick (like a frozen pizza). My super long days behind the chair, I plan those nights for leftovers or throw something in the crockpot before I leave. After I plan 3-4 dinners each week, then I make my grocery list. If you haven't done grocery pick up, you seriously need to check it out. It is, by far, the BEST thing that has happened to my meal prep. The hour and a half I would spend in the store, I now spend prepping lunches or chopping up veggies for the week. SO much less food waste and it saves me a ton of money. Do it. ASAP. And if you have a reliable grocery delivery in your area, do that!
All in all, I definitely don't believe that the to-do list is ever done, but I definitely have learned there is a time to turn it off every day. We overestimate what we can get done in a day, but underestimate what we can get done in a year. Be proud of what you get done every day, take time for yourself, take care of yourself and have fun in everything you do!
You're probably wondering what the hell is NBR and why I've become obsessed with it over the past year? NBR stands for Natural Beaded Rows Extensions and it's literally changed my life as a person and my career behind the chair.
In July of 2017, a (now) close friend introduced me to Natural Beaded Rows. I was at a Business Retreat in San Francisco, CA and she would not quit talking about these extensions. To be completely honest, I really didn't listen a whole lot, but she cussed a lot so I trusted her and knew she was my people. I woke up one morning at the beginning of 2018 and decided I was going to get certified in NBR. I applied, got accepted and became officially certified in June of 2018.
As of March 2019, I have traveled back to California EIGHT times to continue my education with Natural Beaded Rows Team including the creator, Danielle K White and her husband Garrett, their lead trainer, Anianne and many other platform artists (BMSCON2, Warrior Women, NBR Intensive, Warrior Wealth for Women, MMCON, BMSCON3 - where I was a PodLeader, a second NBR Intensive and BMS Quarter 1 Event 2019). Seriously, I'm tired just thinking about it, but the growth I've seen in myself personally and professionally is unmatched, and I'm incredibly thankful for this tribe. I never could have imagined how many details are involved in an installation, but I'm proud to know I am offering the highest quality service to my guests. It's something I wear in my own hair and can't live without at this point.
So, what makes NBR so special? Natural Beaded Rows is an extension method that utilizes hand tied hair. You start by creating a track with just bead a string, and then stitch in hand tied hair. You'll hear a lot of people talking about hand tied extensions right now. Hand tied is simply the type of hair being put in the hair (you can have machine tied wefts, hand tied wefts, tape ins, individuals, etc). I use hand tied hair and install through the method of Natural Beaded Rows.
It has less points of contact than other extension methods and it involves no glue or tape. The hair is custom colored to blend seamlessly with your hair, unlike most other methods where the hair is swatched to match. The hand-tied hair is extremely thin at the weft, allowing us to layer multiple wefts creating beautiful customized color, but also keeps the rows extremely light. I don't even notice I have extensions in my hair at this point.
My absolute favorite part of NBR is the versatility you have in styling your hair. You can wear your hair straight, curled, wavy, crimped, half-up, in a top knot, in a high pony, braids... literally any way you want. Most other extension methods I have worked with in the past never allowed my guests to style their hair however they wanted.
